STREAMS OF ENERGY
TBA
At the Tassajara Zen Mountain Center (deep in the canyons inland from Big Sur California)
Qigong and Zen Meditation, co-led with Shogen Jody Greene
Enjoy the deep restful quiet, the exquisite vegetarian cuisine, the lovely Zen aesthetic, the creekside hot springs and the varied hiking trails. Tassajara is one of a kind!
Qigong is often translated as “cultivating life force”. Practicing this form, Wai Dan Gong, gives us a direct experience of energy, chi. As such, we start to recognize ourselves as energetic beings, unique yet unified with all. Qigong can be an excellent support for Zen on and off the cushion, by increasing flexibility and strength in body and mind, by relaxing and deepening the breath, and by lengthening the spine and opening the chest.
This Streams of Energy workshop will include:
- Sitting and walking meditation
- The Wai Dan Gong form, 25 distinct movements that can be practiced in sequence or on their own
- A 10-minute self massage routine emphasizing meridians and acupuncture points
- Three standing Qigong meditations
- Gentle meridian stretches
This workshop is open to all, and can be adapted to those with physical limitations.
Retreat fee: TBA
